The Housing Authority of Northumberland County (HANC) is committed to supporting families and seniors throughout Northumberland County by providing access to safe, affordable housing and opportunities for greater stability. Through a range of supportive programs, HANC helps individuals and households secure quality housing, overcome financial barriers, and work toward long-term independence. Whether through rental assistance, supportive services, or partnerships within the community, HANC is dedicated to improving quality of life and ensuring that residents have the resources they need to thrive in a place they can call home.
Family Self-Sufficiency Program
Through the Family Self-Sufficiency Program, HANC connects families with housing support as well as essential services like child care, transportation, education, employment training, and counseling, helping households with low to moderate incomes build toward economic stability and independence.
Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8 Rental Assistance)
HANC administers the Housing Choice Voucher Program to help income-eligible residents cover rental costs, either in their existing home or at a different rental they select. Unlike traditional public housing, HANC does not manage the properties—tenants work directly with their landlords, creating a flexible, tenant-driven approach to affordable housing throughout Northumberland County.
